Great location, close enough to walk to the mall on a warm day as well as great restaurants. We had a great dinner a few blocks away at Georgia Brown's (chic low country food) and completed our night with a show at the Warner Theatre.
The room is fine, with all the amenities including free internet.
Close to everywhere, we were able to walk to the museums, White House and Dupont Circle.
When you exit the Hotel and head left (South), there is a TD bank (Opens on a Saturday.) and Subway Sandwich down the road. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is further South. A great place for breakfast and lunch. If you walk towards the Marriott Hotel, there is a Walgreens there for all of your basic needs.
The White House and all of the major attractions are about 10 minutes plus away from this Hotel. Definitely need to wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking in general. Have fun!!!
We had a great stay at The Madison and would not think twice about returning. The nearest Metro stop (McPherson Sq) is a short walk and can get you around fairly quickly.
We stayed at The Madison between Christmas and New Year's and picked the perfect hotel. The location is terrific - in the middle of all the places you might want to visit in DC. We took a cab to the hotel ($20) but you could easily take the Circular bus ($1) from Union Station and walk 1-2 blocks to the hotel.
The Madison is a very lovely hotel in a perfect location, walking distance to great restaurants and under 2 miles away from the Mall and the Smithsonian museums. The door men are excellent, always greeting one pleasantly and welcoming one back to the hotel. Some are quite warm and personable in their demeanor too, which I appreciated. I wish I could say the same for the front desk. I never saw a smile and though they were efficient and professional, their attitudes were lackluster at best.
